Martian analysis is the previous step to determine the possibility of a martian settlement. The location of the settlement depends on access to water collection and the most favorable weather conditions. This is because they are the essential aspects to allow habitability. In addition, these determining factors allow the development of the rest of the basic requirements for habitability, such as food and the cultivation of food or accommodation.
For this reason, it is deduced that best place to locate the settlement is at a point to be determined within the Arcadia Planitia region. This region corresponds to the area highlighted in the drawing thumbnail below. The choice of Arcadia Planitia as the optimal region to locate the settlement is deduced from the water plane that allows knowing the places with water ice reserves. This area is the one that refers to the area with the easiest extraction of the resource to dispose of it according to the research carried out by NASA in 2019. According to the analysis, this area gives access to the resource and facilitates its extraction due to depth at the one that is found: about 30 centimeters below the surface. NASA itself determines the location of a colony in this area favorable.
The approach to the proposal is carried out by achieving scales: it begins with a general visualization of
Mars conditions in terms of topography and ice remnants, the main area where there may be settlements. From there, scales are reduced depending on the location chosen to determine the shape, distribution of spaces and uses, materiality and construction of the settlement.
